WELCOME TO BAYO FATUSIN FOUNDATION
“whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do to me.”
– Mathew 25:4
Poverty in Nigeria has dramatically increased since the 1990s reaching 60.9% in 2010. Over 96,000,000 people suffer from the hunger and deprivation, barely able to afford the basic essentials of shelter, food, and clothing. In 2010, 93.9% of Nigerians felt themselves to be poor, reflecting a deep and profound spiritual and physical need of an entire people. Despite having one of the world’s highest economic growth rates averaging 7.4% over the last decade, unemployment grows at an average rate of 23.9% and a majority of the Nigerian people cannot afford basic necessities. The lack of education, evident in a 39.2% adult illiteracy rate, and a lack of basic health services with wide spread preventable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, directly contribute to the Nigerian life expectancy of 52 years, which is 20 years less than the world average.
The Bayo Fatusin Foundation is a non-Governmental, non-profit organization following the word of God to care and provide for the less privileged. Over 2,000 verses in the Holy Bible describe God’s love and passion for the poor. Throughout his Holy Word, God commands his people to give what they have and share their wealth with those less fortunate.
The organization was founded by Mr. Bayo Fatusin. Mr. Fatusin is a successful businessman in real estate, oil, gas, and the hospitality business. With his success, he has become a great philanthropist, embarking on various humanitarian and life-touching projects. With donations by Mr. Fatusin, and the hard work of our staff and volunteers, we distribute the desperately needed food, supplies, and medicine to ease the pain of the less fortunate while supporting education and helping people reaching their full potential and learning to help themselves and their communities. Through education and empowerment, communities can improve access to basic resources and become self reliant helping to end the painful cycle of poverty.
Mission
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
– James 1:27
To model Christ in love, touch the lives of people positively, and bring smiles to their faces and ease their pains. Poverty is a deep and painful crisis affecting over 96 million the people in Nigeria. Those caught in the poverty cycle live on less than $1 per day and can barely afford the bare essentials of shelter, food, and clothing with people often going short on food, especially during the pre-harvest period.
Throughout his Holy Word, God commands his people to give what they have and share their wealth with those less fortunate. As a Christian-based philanthropic foundation, the Bayo Fatusin Foundation works to follow God’s command and emulate Christ’s love in reaching out and helping all people in need. Through the donations of Mr. Bayo Fatusin, and the hard work of our staff and volunteers, we distribute the desperately needed food, supplies, and medicine to ease the pain of the less fortunate. With our efforts, thousands of people have been able to improve their lives with immediate help, education, and the support of financial programs to help them reach their full potential and become self reliant.
Vision
“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
– Proverbs 14:31
To eradicate or minimize poverty through empowerment of the less privileged in order to bring them to their full potential and become self reliant. Poverty in Nigeria has increased from 54.7% in 2004 to 60.9% in 2010. While hunger and deprivation are the immediate pains of the less fortunate, the deeper chronic problems of multi-generational poverty can be directly linked to a lack of education, health care, and basic infrastructure improvements. 39.2% of all adults in Nigeria are illiterate. The average life expectancy of the Nigerian citizen is 52 years, which is 20 years less than the world average, which is directly attributable to wide-spread, curable epidemics such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Agriculture employs 2/3rd of the country’s labour force and is the primary livelihood for 90% of the rural population. However, 90% of Nigerian food is produced by small-scale farmers dependant on rainfall rather than irrigation systems.
While these problems are deep, they are preventable through education and support. The Bayo Fatusin Foundation is committed to not only alleviating immediate hunger and deprivation, but also supporting education and helping people reaching their full potential and learning to help themselves and their communities. Through education and empowerment, communities can improve access to basic resources and become self reliant.
